first three houses textured. still tempted by using actual video footage but we’ll see.
More observations.
On my drive home, I decided to drive through a few neighborhoods. I often pass them, but I hadn’t ever driven through. I decided to do a little research on my subject matter. I found that the houses I have been illustrating are not nearly as rediculous as the houses in this video. Some of them are truly outrageous and huge.
The inspiration for my idea came from my surroundings, but I forgot to just observe them and take notes.
I want to also experiment with using photographs or video as backgrounds and animating elements and characters on top of that footage. Just an idea at this point. I would want to revisit this neighborhood and take some composed shots, but I am a little nervous to just walk on someones property with a video camera or still camera and just start shooting.
The music is Deftones. I was listening to them on my stroll and I thought this song vaguely fit.

A little background on me. Since I’m making an animation that observes and comments on suburban lifestyle, I thought it appropriate to show my own house. I live in Eldersburg, Maryland in Carroll County. I think of it as a suburb of a suburb. My family, like many other people in the area, moved out here from Catonsville, a suburb of Baltimore City.
